Version 16.50 Released!
We hope this newsletter finds all of our users safe and healthy during this unprecedented time in our history. We've continued to work on our software despite the strange and difficult times we find ourselves in. What else can you do? The good news is that since our team couldn't go anywhere we have even more improvements than normal for a general release:
Slip & Clip feature to easily manipulate finite element cable lengths to facilitate tasks like replacing dead end structures or fixing clearance violations
Create Space Potential, electric field, and magnetic field contour plots along structure cross sections to locate ADSS cable attachments or check climbing safety
New load adjustment commands for Structure Snub Loading along with a variety of other construction loading scenarios
Automatically generate PDFs of graphic views with optional export to Google Drive
Export any table based report to Google Sheets
In addition to these headline features, we have made dozens of other improvements detailed in the change log.
Several of the other significant changes are highlighted below with several video demonstrations of the features;
PLS-CADD: Structure Space Potential Calculations (Watch the video)
PLS-CADD: Slip & Clip (Watch the video)
PLS-CADD: Snub Structure Loading (Watch the video)
ALL: PDF and Google Drive Export (Watch the video)
PLS-POLE: ASCE 48-19 steel pole strength check
PLS-POLE + TOWER: Drafting/Add Loading Tree Views for automatic graphical loading tree generation
PLS-POLE + TOWER: Custom (user defined) member labeling
TOWER: Crossing Diagonal Check (CDC) now compatible with modeling redundants and added Corner Diagonal support
You can use the Help/Download Upgrade command in the software to upgrade to version 16.50 today if your licenses are within support.
Version 16.50 is our third general release with Subscription Based Licensing (SBL). Clients who have renewed since its initial release have successfully migrated to SBL. These clients are now free to run their PLS software in virtual and remote environments without a hardware key. If you are one of the few clients that have not yet made the transition to SBL then our sales team will discuss it with you at your next renewal or feel free to reach out to them directly by emailing sales@powerlinesystems.com.
Classes and Webinars
In lieu of our normally scheduled classes we are hosting free biweekly Webinars that you may register for using the new Help/Register for Training Classes command available in Version 16.5. Previous Webinar Topics have been;
Importing Survey Files
Criteria Development
Graphical Sagging and FE Cable Adjustments
PLS-POLE & Framing Manager
PLS-POLE Framing
PLS-CADD Line Optimization & Structure Spotting
LiDAR Classification & Structure Modeling
Clearance Reporting
If you missed one of these previous Webinars, you can also use the new Help/Register for Training Classes command to download the recordings of these past Webinars. This capability is only available in Version 16.5 (and later), so you will need to use the Help/Download Upgrade to get Version 16.5 first if you do not have it. If your Technical Support and Upgrade Period has expired, you will have an opportunity to request a renewal quote.
New physical classes will be added when conditions permit. You may subscribe to our mailing list to be notified whenever a new class or Webinar is scheduled.
