2007 Program Improvements

At Power Line Systems we continually improve our software. Below we list some of the more significant enhancements made during the year 2007. Click here for improvements made in 2006 or here for the most recent enhancements.

PLS-CADD^™

• PLS-CADD version 9.00 released
• Fine tuned support for Windows Vista
• Improved vegetation management features
• Criteria/Survey Point Clearances has new option to check survey point clearances to full range of wire positions along an arc between left and right blowout positions.
• Improved performance and program responsivness through use of new compiler optimizations, updated multi processor support and revised code.
• Can now create and restore .BAK files in excess of 4GB (enables use of very high resolution color imagery)
• Program now monitors memory usage and automatically unloads aerial imagery when needed to avoid out of memory errors.
• Streamlined survey point, section and marker data structures greatly reducing memory consumption. In addition to allowing larger projects this enables more extensive use of markers for richer graphical feedback in new clearance functions.
• Program automatically breaks large ECW images into many smaller images to improve performance and reduce memory usage.
• Imagery memory management automated, eliminating need for desired pixel size and dynamic resize inputs found in earlier versions. Program continually adjusts resolution for each image to minimize memory usage while retaining optimum display and print quality.
• New Drafting/Inset Plan Detail/Add and Edit commands allow insertion of plan or 3D viewport on P&P sheets. Viewport scale, longitude, latitude, title, wire, structure and guy anchor display are all under user control.
• Added support for panning, zooming and rotating views with 3DConnexion 3D input devices like the SpaceNavigator.
• The Help/Help Topics dialog now searches as you type.
• Added Customize Structure commands:
  • Move Pole with options to snap pole to a survey point or move it freehand (good for moving guy stub poles).
  • Move Guy Anchor/Slope Intersect with TIN to adjust guy lengths as needed to hit ground. Command can operate on a single selected guy or on all guys over a range of structures.
  • Move Arm with options to orient arm perpendicular to a selected wire or alignment segment.
